A few years ago, Angela Smith heard about the help given to local people, schools and organisations by two trusts:The William Harding Trustand The Thomas Hickman Trust.
The generosity of these two men began in the late 1600s and early 1700s, and their legacy has grown over the centuries, benefitting many thousands. Our Church alone has had numerous grants from the William Harding Trust over the years, most recently for the tables and chairs in our newly-refurbished Welcome Space and our new cooker in the main kitchen, but also grants for Youth Club and German Exchange. And a few of our congregation live in the beautiful Alms Houses provided by the Thomas Hickman Trust.
Angela thought others might be interested, and she spent a long time researching their lives and the work they did. She wrote and had printed illustrated booklets about the two men, and, when she was well, she gave talks to local groups, especially those who had received help from one or
other of the trusts.
Since Angela is unable to give talks any longer, some of her booklets have been put into the display cabinet in the Welcome Space for you to take home and read. Please help yourself, and do take one for anyone you think might also be interested.
