We get all sorts of items in at the Repair Café – weird, wonderful, big, small, loved, cherished, bashed, tattered all needing some expert diagnostics and advice.
Last Saturday, Andy's bike stand didn't get used but he did get to finish a bike repair, plus glasses fix, sharpened shears, secateurs and a lawn mower blade. John M did a sterling job keeping us safe, PAT testing items before they were sent to a repairer – one sewing machine spectacularly didn't pass! John M also fixed an electric fan heater.
Steve juggled an electric whisk, an LED light, extension lead and two record players. Peter K, along with newcomer John G, fixed brakes on a walker, a dvd player, diagnosed a coffee machine's problem and advised on a new part to be ordered, couldn't fix a retro electronic game but did repair a wooden crane.
Sue repaired a jumper, coat, trousers as well as having some of her finely made textile items for sale with proceeds going to the Repair Café. Sarah delved deeply into servicing, and showing people how their sewing machines need maintaining. Jodie sewed up a young man's favourite hat and dressing gown, and a hoodie, before taking on a beautiful rocking horse renovation.
Jennie had yet another giraffe to fix. Phil helped prepare some soles for gluing on a pair of slippers. Margaret's café team kept everyone refreshed with teas and coffees. Alex kept the admin in check.
Our next session is Saturday, 28th March, 9.30 to 12.30. See you then?
