Local Preachers

David Neville, Secretary of the Local Preachers' Meeting reports: "A Re-dedication service was held at Stewkley Methodist Church on 5th November. Long service certificates were also presented at that service and the photograph shows from left to right John Shaw, Richard Maguire, Frankie Fisher, Pete Honeyball, Ken Harris, Colin Watts & David Neville."

The Methodist Church website says that, "Local preachers are those who have been accredited to preach God's word and lead the people of God in worship. Originally, the term local preacher showed the distinction between those who stayed in a local area and those who were "itinerant" and moved around the country. These "itinerants" later became known as ministers (presbyters).

As a Church, we are deeply indebted to all our local preachers for their diligence and commitment to fill so many of the preaching appointments across Methodism. We are especially grateful to our own local preachers and congratulations to all those shown for their long years of service.
