80 year-old church steward Derek Adams intends to trek the coast of Britain before he is 85. So far, in three separate legs, he has gone from Lee on Solent to John O' Groats and the Orkneys and Shetlands, raising money for the RNLI, NHS and British Heart Foundation. His wife Sue gives this update:
"The Old Boy has itchy feet again. He will be setting off on Leg 4 ahead of the original September schedule. There has been a route change too, this will result in the Trek ending back in John O Groats. Avoiding the Scottish midges, he will be commencing Leg 4 back in Lee on the Solent, where he started this mad venture. This time he will be heading west, past Bournemouth, Swanage, Weymouth etc towards Land's End.
He will be away just two and a half weeks on this Leg. It is quite possible any of you heading to this part of the country for a holiday may encounter him. If so, feel free to buy him an ice cream cornet, or a coffee, or better still a Greg's sausage roll! Heading to a beach near you from June 20th!Needless to say, this will be in addition to the September trek (God willing), not instead of it."
