AMC easter 16 cross 2

Flowers brought by the congregation once more transformed the bare cross of Lent into the colourful cross of Easter. It symbolised the transformation from tragedy to triumph of Christ's crucifixion to resurrection, the transformation of the disciples from fearful to fearless and the potential to transform each one of us into better bearers of God's love and light as suggested in this Easter prayer by Michaela Youngson, Superintendent Minister of the Ealing Trinity Circuit.

When everything was dark
and it seemed that the sun would never shine again,
your love broke through.

Your love was too strong,
too wide,
too deep
for death to hold.

The sparks cast by your love
dance and spread
and burst forth
with resurrection light.

Gracious God,
We praise you for the light of new life
made possible through Jesus.
We praise you for the light of new life
that shone on the first witnesses of resurrection.
We praise you for the light of new life
that continues to shine in our hearts today.

We pray that the Easter light of life, hope and joy,
will live in us each day;
and that we will be bearers of that light
into the lives of others.
Amen.

On opening the Bible, we are faced with a multitude of problems; from its form and historical content to sheer size and often...

Frankie Fisher: Fri 04 Dec 5:00am

Frankie continues the week's pilgrimage to Jerusalem by looking at Psalm 124.1 If the LORD had not been on our side-- let Israel say-- 2 if the LORD had not been on our side when people attacked us, 3 they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us; 4 the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, 5 the raging waters would have swept us away. 6...

Pete Honeyball: Thu 03 Dec 5:00am

Continuing the pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Pete looks at Psalm 123.A song of ascents.1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven. 2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he shows us his mercy. 3 Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, for we have...
