A standing ovation, a plant and a book token were given to our former Family and Youth Worker, Mel Brown, during Sunday morning's service. Mel worked with us on a three year contract, leaving during lockdown in summer 2020. Our minister Richard Atkinson had been trying to arrange a proper 'goodbye and thank you' and this was the first opportunity. The service was followed by a soup lunch, giving many more people the chance to speak with her.
Mel has written back, saying, "I am still lost for words. Sunday's expression of love and kindness was tangible and so incredible. If I could bottle time and emotions, the time spent on Sunday would be stored on my shelf. Thank you for the love expressed; thank you for my precious plant which will be placed by my front door; and thank you so much for the voucher! I'll be combing through actual shelves to see which reads I can add to my growing collection. AMC will always be precious to me; there I have made friends for life. God bless you and thank you."
