"The role of the local church in communities beyond Brexit will be crucial." So wrote Rachel Lampard in a report to the Methodist Council. She also said, "There are clearly communities that have felt abandoned, by the Church as well as other institutions. Are there ways in which we can prioritise Christian presence in those places? Churches are (or can be) places where everyone is welcomed and heard, and everyone is esteemed because they are children of God, they are welcomed unconditionally and accepted just as they are by God's grace. Clearly to do this we have to do a lot of listening and change our practices towards those who have been excluded."
We seek to play our own small part in this, especially by improving our ability to listen to people through our current training courses, In May, we will launch our Listening Service for people of all faiths or no faith. Meanwhile, to read Rachel's full report on Brexit, click here.
