February is LGBT+ history month and we celebrate by taking a look at the background to last year's historic vote permitting same sex marriage within the Methodist Church. We talk to Revd Ken Howcroft who chaired the group behind the God in Love Unites Us report considered by the Conference and we chat with a couple whose lives have been changed by the vote and who plan to marry this summer. Click here to listen to the 20 minute podcast.

The Methodist Church nationally, to be consistent with our way of making important decisions, is asking all churches to look at whether they wish to allow same sex marriages to take place in their buildings. Church Council will be looking at this at their next meeting on March 2nd.

To help, our minister, Richard has produced two documents. The first explores why we are having to do this, and thoughts on how our church does its theology and therefore the factors we should consider in making decisions. The second explores both points of view and the points of discussion.

If anyone who is not on Church Council would like a sight of these documents, please ask Richard. Then you could talk to members of Church Council to express your thoughts.

The elected congregational representatives are John Miskin, Sandie Steeden, Rae Garden, Babs Trend, Paul Ingram and Lynn Bernstone – or you could talk to a Church Steward or Richard (01296 339899).
