AMC GDPR

We have all been plagued with emails about GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations). Mercifully, the TMCP (Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes), and that's the last of the acronyms, honest, have looked into all this on our behalf. They have produced a Privacy Notice specifically tailored for use by Local Churches, Circuits and Districts within the Methodist Church in Great Britain.
Why do we need one? All Local Churches, Circuits and Districts process personal information relating to living individuals — personal data — even if it is limited to the members' roll and gift aid register. This means you have to provide the privacy information required under GDPR. A "privacy notice", also referred to as a "privacy policy" is the most transparent way to do this. It basically tells people how their personal data is used by the Church, why/on what lawful bases and what rights they have.
So whilst GDPR might be clogging up our in-boxes right now, it does increase our rights to know what info is kept about us. For those who cannot wait a moment longer to dive into the 15-page Privacy Policy, simply click here.
