On Monday 17th January, the AMC Food Bank was launched. It will be some time before it becomes well known and busy, but we are spending the time profitably working out how we were going to do things and getting to know each other as volunteers. We have issued our first food parcels to three guests, made several mugs of coffee and collected the unsold Greggs food, taking what we could not use to the temporary housing for the homeless. We have a new box or donations in the Welcome Space which Julianne and David Wilderspin will continue to manage.
Do, please continue to donate. Particularly needed at the moment are tinned items – fish/soup/tomatoes/fruit as well as long life fruit and milk (avoid pasta please). Any toiletries are also really useful. We would also appreciate any spare supermarket plastic bags you may have.
Please pray for the success of this project in meeting the needs of those in food poverty, and consider if and how God might be calling you to support it. It would be great to have more involvement on Monday evenings from members of the church (on a rota basis to fit around other commitments). If anyone you know needs help, please encourage them to pop along to the
Church on a Monday evening between 7.00 and 8.30pm. Karen
