Virtual Dinner Party

Aylesbury Methodist Church is inviting its members and friends (and all readers of this website) to share a Virtual Dinner Party to raise funds for their new Community centre. The basis of the idea is that on the same day (October 18th) at the same time (8pm) they will all share grace and the same meal in their own homes. A grace written by the Minister Reverend David Jenkins and a recipe book is on sale at £5.
Derek and Lynn Bernstone (pictured left) are part of the fund-raising team and Derek said, "All of us will eat a meal on Saturday 18th, so why not all eat the same meal? So we can do this, the MCCP (Methodist Community Centre Project) has produced a recipe book that will allow us to choose a menu, be it for one or many. The result will be that many of us, after sharing David's specially written grace, will know we are sharing similar meals at the same time and so take part in this Virtual Dinner Party. The joy of it being virtual is of course that we can decide exactly when the 18th of October is, so if someone can't make that date, they virtually still can!"
The recipe book contains a choice of four starters, four main courses and four deserts, including vegetarian options. Copies of the book and your own menu card can be obtained for £5 by telephoning Lynn and Derek on 01296 42817.
Helped by a Big Lottery Fund grant, the Community Centre building work is now under way. Project spokesman Peter Green said, "It will increase the capacity of our building by 30%. We already provide town centre accommodation for thirty odd community and charity groups that cater for the needs of the youngest to the oldest. We will be able to substantially increase this work, espexcially for those most in need. Contributions for the Virtual Dinner party will help us to pay for it all.
