Queen’s Badge

Queens BadgeQueen's Badge for Brigader. Stephen Angood, an 18 year-old member of our Aylesbury church's Boys' Brigade has achieved the national  youth organization's highest award. He was presented with his Queen's Badge at the Harvest Festival service by the Queen's representative, Sir Henry Aubrey Fletcher Bt. JP, Lord Lietenant of Buckinghamshire, pictured left.

Very few people attain this award. To do so, after many years of gaining preliminary badges, Stephen had to have a two-year plan. This involved work in the community, learning a new skill and undertaking an adventure. For the community, he did voluntary work at the College Lake conservation site, whilst for his skill, he learnt to juggle, demonstrating this very clearly at a recent Brigades' concert. His adventure was based on a school trip to Venezuela.

Boys' Brigade Captain Mrs Margaret Miskin spoke appreciatively at the service about Stephen's long involvement with the 1st Aylesbury company. 'Stephen has always been a very dedicated and enthusiastic young man.  He was always well dressed and well turned out.'

To mark their son's high honour, his parents Mr and Mrs Angood are donating a trophy to be awarded annually for the best turned out boy in the Brigade. As for Stephen himself, he is starting a University course at Leicester. He goes there with the congratulations and best wishes of the Aylesbury church family.
