Channelling God’s love for all people

Muslim visit

About forty members of the Aylesbury Mosque visited Aylesbury Methodist Church on November 14. They witnessed an act of Christian worship led by Rev. David Jenkins and afterwards they took part in a question and answer session.  This was followed by refreshments and informal conversations with the Aylesbury Church members who had attended.

The event was a follow-up to the visit to the Mosque the Methodists had made in September which had a similar format, with the Aylesbury Mosque Imam Abdul Dayan leading their evening prayers.  In between, there was the Asian earthquake and the Methodist Church delivered over £800 directly to the Mosque from retiring collections at Sunday services.

On the visits, both groups of worshippers learnt more about the respective faiths.  Comments included the striking similarities, rather than differences between the faiths and that Muslims deserved to be called Methodists because of their methodical commitment to daily prayers.

The two visits were characterised by warm welcomes, friendly hospitality, enlightening conversations and a 'feel good' factor.  It is hoped to arrange further meetings in the future.
