Cards for Good Causes 2008
New home for Cards for Good Causes
The former Ramblers's store in Buckingham Street Aylesbury is this year's home for Cards for Good Causes. The £1 million redevelopment of Aylesbury Methodist Church's premises has meant that after 20 years there, they had to find a new temporary home for 2008. The location is ideal being only a few yards across the road from the church.
Cliff Darlington manages the shop with the help of about 100 volunteers. These are from the 39 charities supported by the shop and from Aylesbury church members. Cliff told the Bucks Herald, "We are very lucky because that particular shop has become empty and the chap who owns it has put it in the hands of an agency. They said we can have it for a few weeks."
The shop is open Monday to Saturday from October 25th to December 17th.

In the recent past, the shop has raised about £28,000 each year for the participating charities. All charities receive at least 79p in every £1 from their card sales, out of which they have to pay for the production and distribution of their cards and any applicable VAT.
