The Aylesbury Methodist Community Centre’s fund-raising team chaired by Tony Noble (left) is now within £2,000 of its target.  The team committed to raise £120,000 towards the £1 million cost of the centre refurbishment through a variety of events. These have attracted people from outside the church as well as enhancing fellowship within it.

Tony said “A very big thank you to everyone who has supported the Fund Raising events in the past year. The amount raised was a staggering £40,946.55. Even I am quite pleased!”

The total was boosted by a number of donations totaling nearly £15,000 some of which were gift aided to the extent of nearly £3,600. Of the organised events the Evening with Sir Terry Wogan raised just over £4,000, the Flower Festival over £3,000, the Regular Monthly Produce Stalls nearly £2,000, Rev. David Jenkins Concert £1,500, the Organ concert £1,100 and during the year the Craft team donated their 4th £1,000 from the sale of cards. Sponsorship of Robin Barratt's Coast to Coast walk raised £750.

The Fund Raising Committee have already arranged a programme of events for the New Year and proceeds from these, once the target has been achieved, will be divided between paying off the debt for the Church refurbishment, and donations to the three Church Charities, Missions, Action for Children and the Karabuni Trust.
